History of Kumararama Bhimeswara Swamy Temple:

According to the Skanda and Brahmanda Purana, the temple’s history is rooted in the battle between the demon Tarakasura and Lord Kumaraswamy son of Lord Shiva and goddess Parvathi. The demon stole the Amrutha Atma Linga that emerged during the Ksheerasagar Santhanam, using it to become invincible.

Kumaraswamy wins on Tarakasura in battle, utilizing the Shakthi weapon to defeat him. The demon’s body rejoined after breaking into pieces. Following advice from Lord Vishnu, Kumaraswamy used an Agni weapon to break the Shiva Linga into five pieces.
